Stomach
The stomach is located beneath the liver and above the intestines. It has a shape similar to an empty balloon.
- Greater curvature - curve that is directed mainly forward, larger than the lesser curvature
- Lesser curvature - forms the right, or posterior border of the stomach, extends as a continuation of the esophagus
- Fundus - left portion of the body of the stomach
- Pylorus - region that connects to the the duodenum (small intestines)
- Pyloric sphincter - ring of smooth muscle at the end of the pylorus that connects to the duodenum
- Rugae - gastric rugae, internal surface of the stomach
